I was watching an interesting debate the other night on BBC about Europe failing its Islamic population. The debate centred on freedom of speech and women rights, as expected. That made me think, once again, about religion and personal freedoms.

What about what just happened in Nigeria? It seems that hundreds of Christians, including many women and children, were killed in ethnic violence near the city of Josin Nigeria during the weekend. The latest attacks by Muslims are said to have been reprisals for the January killings by Christians. The circle of violence continues.

The Stoning of Soraya M.

WhattheFAK Movie Review:

Based upon French-Iranian journalist Freidoune Sahebjam's 1984 book of the same name, The Stoning of Soraya M. tells the true tragic story of a woman stoned to death after her sorry-ass husband and his pathetic cohorts, including one shady mutha of a mullah, concoct a devious plot to falsely accuse and convict her of adultery - punishable by death under Sharia law.

Soraya's slimy husband wants to be rid of her because he's hot-rocks to marry and fak a 14 year old girl which'd be statutory rape in the civilized world but not in faked up places ruled by Sharia law. While Soraya'd be relieved to be rid of the loser who rapes her since she isn't interested in sleeping with the revolting beast that frequents prostitutes, she demands financial support for their 2 daughters if she's to concede to a divorce. Being the responsible, honorable creature he isn't, Soraya's husband circumvents possible negotiation, divorce lawyer fees(kidding), and financial obligation when he decides this'd go a hell of a lot more smoothly if she were dead - hence the deceitful plot to wrongfully frame her with adultery.

What faks me off most about this film is not the fact it highlights the barbaric punishment ordained via Sharia law. Usually, the religious element is what faks me off most. Don't get me wrong; the religious, barbaric element faks me off. However, in this case, what faks me off more than anything is the blatant hypocrisy exhibited by gutless men who lie and scheme simply to make it easier for Soraya's husband to take and rape his new 14 year old wife. This loathsome gang throws their hands up in the air as if they're obligated to carry out Allah's ordained punishment for the ‘crime' they know damn well this woman didn't commit since they made the whole thing up. They act as if Allah's tied their hands in the same way they will Soraya's before forcing her into the hole where they'll cowardly bombard her with stones until she dies for being a woman who dared to challenge a man.

Almost poetically - at least for me given my abhorrence for all things religious - the award for the film's most despicable character must go to the holier than thou mullah who, earlier in the film, propositions Soraya to be his whore/sigheh/temporary wife. Surprisingly, given his Johnny Depp sex appeal, honorable Soraya rejects his advances. It merely fuels the hard-on he carries for her throughout the film as he participates in the infantile games played by men with no stones who stone a woman who refused to make it easy for one of them to have their way.

When someone really faked off my dad, his most common and fiercest reply was "Why don't you go fak yourself and see how that works out for you?" In the spirit of that feeling, I take the liberty of tweaking it a bit to apply to the latest row between Google and my favorite place on earth: China. You know, China, where the internet is free, and the rest of us are being unreasonable imperialist faks.

To China I say: "Why don't you go Google yourself and see what results for you?" However, before you do, I dare you to drop your censors first. Then, let's compare the before and after screenshots. Are you man enough to come out from behind the Great Firewall of China, officially known as the Golden Shield Project, and show us what results from random searches on some of your favorite keywords like taboo Tibet and Tiananmen Square just for kicks.

Unfortunately, religion will probably always exist. Even if we're to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that there is no God, there'll be some unreasonable character who will doubt the proof based on faith. Tis all a matter of faith after all. How I detest that as a pillar of argument!

Religion thrives for various reasons but probably most strongly because humans - even the dumbest ones - search for answers to questions for which there are no answers. What is the meaning of life? What is the point of all of this if we're only to die and go nowhere else? Why should I be good if there's no one to answer to in the ‘next life' because there is no ‘next life'? How could something so bad happen to someone so good?

So here I was on a lazy Saturday morning barely awake switching on my brand new Bravia for the latest international news as I was smelling the freshly brewed Colombian coffee. It seemed very pleasant outside and I was looking forward to the nice warm weather and a walk by the beach. I was thinking about the fun I'd have for the rest of the day far away from my cubicle when all of a sudden my tranquillity was interrupted by something that sounded like a big explosion. For a microsecond I felt like I was in the middle of Kabul. I looked at the TV in case BBC was showing the latest Taliban attack, but to my avail, it was showing the latest results from the Ashes. Then another loud bang almost made me dropped my precious coffee on my Polo robe. ‘What The Flying FAK', I thought? I was neither living in Kabul nor in Baghdad and BBC was just showing freaking cricket!

I know what you are thinking. You are thinking that the title refers to a new song by EMINEM and for some reason, I decided to comment on it. Granted, he has a new album out but this is not what I am referring to. Perhaps I have been influenced by his new album which I like because it is completely politically incorrect.

As usual, I bet, that everybody is going to attack EMINEM for his homophobic and misogynist lyrics. You know what, I actually like his album not because I dislike homosexuals or women. On the contrary, I actually think that homosexuals are great and bright people. As for women, I do like them a lot even if they are a pain in the bum, at times.

What is the problem with hetero gender identities? Why do the majority of people in the world feel threatened by a “man” in a skirt or a “woman” in a suit? If I wear a tie (I would be labeled a “woman” when defined through the binary) does this somehow offend you?

Ok, maybe if I was wearing an orange tie with a purple shirt, that might be offensive, but who wants to clash anyway? So what the fak does it matter to you?
