Hetero Gender Identities Are Totally Queer

What is the problem with hetero gender identities?  Why do the majority of people in the world feel threatened by a “man” in a skirt or a “woman” in a suit?  If I wear a tie (I would be labeled a “woman” when defined through the binary) does this somehow offend you?  Ok, maybe if I was wearing an orange tie with a purple shirt, that might be offensive, but who wants to clash anyway?  So what the fak does it matter to you?

How do you define gender anyway?  Is it by the physical attributes given to you at birth?  Is it the physical attributes that you currently “possess” (yes, they can change, even though it does seem many people have a hard time getting the stick out of their arses)?  Is it defined by the role you play in society?  Is it defined by the gender that people perceive you as the majority of the time?  Most people are completely taken aback with these questions, in their mind, it is really simple and they don’t understand why some androgynous girl-boy is assaulting them with questions that disrupt their definitions of society.

For all of the diversity in the world and all of the diversity within mankind, how can we define there being only TWO genders?  Is it not completely ludicrous to segregate the whole of humankind into two main categories and then assign roles, dress codes, behaviors??  What if it was split based on another criteria, say dark hair versus light hair.  Ok, now let’s assign like we do with gender, here are the rules:

-    dark hair people can only fall in love with light hair people and vice versa, if two dark haired people should fall in love this is totally unacceptable
-    light hair people should be authoritative, they should be leaders, dark hair people should be good listeners and follow the lead of the light haired people
-    dark haired people should wear white clothes only, light haired people should wear black clothes only

Ok, you get my point!  It sounds completely ridiculous but this is exactly what we do within the gender binary!  We pick one attribute from a person, not even an emotional attribute (which, by the way, is far more telling of how a person conducts themselves in society) and we begin assigning their place in life, right from the very start!  Girls should wear pink and play with dolls, boys wear blue and play with balls.  Girls should be soft spoken and polite, little boys should play rough and are expected to be more rowdy.  So now, right from your first breath, you have certain ideals assigned to your future.  Is that fair?  Is it right?  Does it even make any faking sense?  Again, remember the comparison to light hair versus dark hair.  You may argue along the lines of biology and say that men are stronger physically; this is a common example.  I will give you that, this is a biological fact, but we aren’t living in caves anymore!  We are not hunters and gatherers running around the woods in loincloths.

We are intellectuals and politicians and CEOs and managers so stop thinking with your B.C. brain!  For a job that needs a person with a particular level of strength, give that job to a person with that level of strength! This is not rocket science, though from the way that some people think, maybe it is comparable.  Forget about what is hanging (or what is not hanging) between someone’s legs before making gross assumptions about how that person should act and what role they should play in society.
